My idea is to offer those domain names, the second level domain names, to users that have only one domain name under that second level and if there’s more than one they could grandfathered them in. @Helmuts what do you think?

That is why it's exactly so easy to understand, the domain names like helmuts.name are much more valuable than firsts.last.name

Like most every decision nowadays they are always done for corporate greed and not the good of the customer.
