YOu gotta have that PMA..positive mental attitude but you also have to be realistic and know 90-95% of people who try, will fail.

I think the guy just gets frustrated and depressed sometimes. I'm sure we've all been there. Most keep it to themselves though. As frustrated as I might get you have to look at the good things that have happened. Try and not focus on the rich guys who own you on a daily basis and just hope that you'll be able to even get a % of the success that they have. Keep the hope alive.

Every industry has it's pitfalls, annoyances and cycles.

Nothing is easy. Even the ones who are most successful didn't do it overnight, but through lots of time and hard work. The list above might be some drawbacks of domaining, but there is a lot more that makes up for it. Just remember all the trends point to internet growth and more internet use, and people need domains to get online.

Agree about having a positive attitude, but there is also a negative perspective. Maybe because I started domaining at 22, and 2 years later end up spending more time working with less results than when I first started.

If you're in it for the long haul this is a great reason to stay in. Scoop up some bargains right now and hold onto them until the economy improves. People tend to forget that "upkeep" on domains is only $10-$20 a year, regardless at how many thousands of dollars the initial cost was to you.

I think a lot of people are just mad because back in the middle/late 90s half a dozen of guys sat countless hours by their computers and read the dictionary/yellow pages while hand regging 300,000 domains (each). Somewhat of an unfair advantage.

And even more people are mad because a lot of great domains are hardly developed.

After all if you have 300,000 domains how are you going to develop them? Who here owns HIV.com?

That could be such a great site helping millions of people....there isn't even a forum on there? lol. How much do you want for that site? $100,000? $1,000,000? $100,000,000? $1,000,000,000?

Stick with it...just give every purchase ten minutes (if possible) before buying. Oh, and have your glasses on in case you mistype!

Agree, keep your negative attitude to yourself please, we have all made a serious investment in either money/time here, if the domain business depresses you then quit.

That's our own fault. All those chicks get scared away by domainers that keep telling them shorter is better.

I've been at domaining for under a year, it can be frustrating at times but the most successful endure.

with the forever drops in prices $180 > $170 > $160> $125 > $90 > $45 > $25 > $10 > sale closes in 48 hrs > last chance > etc.

Domaining is no different to any other business.....It has ups, downs, frustrations, delays, high points, failures, and sweet successes...

Knowledge (and, yes, a bit of luck, too) makes all the difference. And, hard work. A lot of domainers kind of treat it like a hobby...That's fine....But, be realistic about your expectations....If you don't put it in, you're unlikely to get it back.

Domaining is at its best stage for anyone who wants to flip a coin into a bill! Low ball offers = Domainers/Rookies! I have been flipping kick ass expired domains into $$$$. Only if I had $$ $$$ - $$$ $$$. I would be flipping bills into Diamonds!

The worst lowball offers I have had are from end users. Recently sent emails for a City + RealEstate.com and received an inquiry from a Realtor. I gave them a price and ended up calling them to follow up. After a lot of time-wasting they explained how they could not afford the price, and whined about how they could not even spend $XXX on the domain! They did not make any offer but said they did not want to 'insult me' with their lowball offer.
