1and1.com - 5.99 regs - legit?

I have noticed 1and1.com is offering $5.99 domain registrations (com/net/org/info/name). Has anybody had any experience with these guys? Does anyone know if they have a decent control panel?

Seems like a good deal but I don't like to jump into new registrars.

Any information/reviews are appreciated.

I've read a number of horror stories about them over in WHT.

The lack of support from 1&1 is legendary so, if you have a problem with your account, you could be waiting weeks for a response.

guess that could be true, I have yet to ever get a single response to my questions to their support email, but since this is on the free acount offer I can't complain. If the goal was to get people to renew though, you would think they would reply at least once.
