In answer to your second question, .coms are almost invariably worth more than other extensions because it's the extension everyone associates with the internet. However, in some countries like Germany the local extension (in this case .de) is nearly as popular so if the domain targets a market within this specific country it might be worth a similar amount to the .com . The US is not one of those countries at present.
