2008: How much was your largest purchase?

Is it bargain hunting time?

I am just curious to see if you guys are investing / reinvesting into the market. :ok:

I don't want to say how much my largest purchase of 2008 was (as it is a very recent purchase), but I can say that I put every penny I have into domain names and I will keep doing so. ;)

Stian.....

Nex.....nice site!

Good Job!

Tony

Happy Holidays!!

Being as low on cash as I have been my purchasing power was not much this year, I think the most I paid for a domain was $70 but highly worth it. It paid for itself in less than 5 months. :)

Domains are still an excellent investment, one of the best possible places to build your wealth actually in todays down offline market...as far as the domain market being "down" I just do not really see that happening..maybe names of high quality are getting harder to obtain and whats left over just is'nt selling like hotcakes.

First of all, Nex.com looks very nice!

Also, please allow me rephrase my question. In what price range was your largest 2008 domain name purchase?

i believe the most i spent on one domain in 2008 was $1600.00

the most i ever spent on a single domain or "package of domains", since i've been in this biz was less than $5K

 Ditto. I went there last night.

WONDERFUL site and domain.

Tony...

Where you been?

Happy and Safe Holidays to you and Stian and domainers of the world.

I am not sure I understand the why this, how much that.

Honestly, it is okay I guess to check a pulse of the industry.

Discreetness in monetary matters are paramount to me for all parties concerned.

And that has seemed to help me in all business matters and facets of life.

just checking the pulse Baby, checking the pulse

My largest single acquisition was low $xxx, xxx.xx

I'm a reg fee guy but I think we all know the value of domain names. :) Even though I've suffered a hit in recent months (my parking income is down), I'm continuing to spend min. $725 monthly for hand registering 100 new names strictly as an investment vehicle. Hey, they are out there.

Invest in domain names and retire early.

I've been letting many of my domains drop, and only picked up a few reg fee domains. I deleted a .us domain today, godaddy wants $20 to renew and the best code only got down to $15.99. I've been hit hard money wise, last winter wipe me out and I had some very hard choices to make.

Moniker you can renew for $8 or less. I can't remember the exact price as I only have a few of them.

2008 was the year where i actually slowed down with domain acquisitions and finally developed a majority of all of the good domains that i have been collecting over the past few years with the most potential.....spent way more money on development than on domains...but i did acquire an additional few thousand, mostly geo names, to keep me busy in 2009 of course, with some very exciting projects :)

with .net pricing as low as they were......... i just couldn't resist grabbing as many of the best keyword domains that i come across... and there is still plenty of goodies out there, if u look hard enough

also not so long ago .org domains were $2 each sooo that was another 1,800 or so domains that finally got put to good use in '08

all in all.... another very productive and successful yr -- PIR should do more discounts on .org again tho, we need it :p and i miss it... arrrg

.be freebies a while back was pretty cool too ;)

My largest purchase was in the mid xx,xxx rang. My New Year project will be to develop it.

My most expensive domain was doory.com that I paid $1k. I paid that much because the domain was a 5 letter pronounceable and brandable name.

I also paid $200 for azlocals.com, but I am not sure what I am going to do with that domain yet. I currently have a free dating site hosted on my dedicated server, but I need to find a better way to monetize that domain.

I normally register new domains for $7-10. I am a domain addict as I buy around 10 domains a month. This year I bought 2 domains that I will never use just because I thought they were funny: myfootyourass.com and inthecabose.com

;)
