OK it's after midnight here in the East, which means it is officially Tuesday and we can release our new Domain Sales section at Domain Name Journal. We actually started it with an introductory column a few days ago, but it has now been much improved and starting today it has its own section (updated every Tuesday) with all new sales information that again provides some surprises.

There are a couple of 5-figure sales at the top of the list and neither are .coms! Not .nets either....and nope...not even .de! In addition to the Top Ten general sales list, we are unveiling our first Top 5 New Extension sales list as well. Here is the link:

Domain Sales Section at Domain Name Journal

The worlds' two leading domain name exhanges, Sedo & Afternic, are making their sales data available to us. We are also getting information from other key aftermarket players and checking Ebay's sales records.

BuyDomains offered to give us a list of their top sellers but no prices so we had to decline. That wouldn't be any better than giving you a list of prices with no domains (you obviously have to have both for the info to be useful). Of course, many companies have to keep sales figures private at the request of their clients, but we will still have a very representative list of the top weekly sales and it will get bigger and better as more contributors come on board. Thanks for looking!

Nice new site feature! I'll be sure to give you the inside scoop on my latest $40k+ sale. It will be closing later this week. As well as any other public sales I may make. :)

If I sold one for 40K you can bet I would be publicizing the fact. I wouldn't be able to keep my mouth shut! :-D

Duke,

Great reporting, as usual.

The reason that .AT (Austria) domains are rocking is obvious to anyone who lives in California: Where does the new governor of California come from? :-D

Keep it up and you'll start getting people angry at you for dispelling this mythical notion that only .com is worth owning ;)

Nice work Duke

Many of ebay sales are not legitimate. You should verify these sales before including them into your stats, imho.

No Ebay sales have been included in our stats and no sales from ANY venue will be included unless we can verify that they were legitimate.

I believe that you know about eBay records, but I just want to ensure that you got it right so we will have the best domain article site on earth. :)

Duke rocks!

One more note on DNJ - we have a very interesting new Cover Story coming out tomorrow on a real domain pioneer (he was involved in the first $1 million domain sale). At the same time we will be releasing a story on an extensive poll Prof. Bob Connor spent the past 5 months conducting that gives some insight into what extensions are preferred country by country around the world. We take a global view of the business at Domain Name Journal, so I found Bob's poll results and story to be very interesting.

The next Domain Sales column will be up Tuesday. Not sure if the transaction will through escrow by the end of the week, but if it does, we will be reporting the largest sale ever in one of the new extensions.

Sid

Well, it was OK, but I'm wondering if that native.com deal was bogus...no one could be that lucky! :-D

Just in case someone misses the inside joke, Sid was the seller in the native.com deal.

By the way, a new Cover Story will be out in the morning as well as another major front page feature on preferred domain name extensions around the world.
