Enom's Club Drop has put Addidas.com back up for bid in a public auction. They had reported to DNJournal that they had been paid for the domain Dec. 23. Now the WhoIs record is again showing the Enom registrar that originally caught the domain Dec. 20 (Name Nelly). I have a message into them to find out what happened. This was the highest reported sale last week and will obviously be removed (with SnapNames' eTrust.com moving up to #1) once I get an explanation.

I wonder how high the re-auction will go. It's now got the benefit of having more publicity than it did the first time around and a longer auction.

Adiddas shouldn't have let it expire 1 year after they won their WIPO. I guess they like paying $1,500+ a year for a domain. :)

Duke must be swimming with possible headlines:

"Addidas Booted"

"Stinky Addidas Transaction"

"Footloose Addidas Auction"

"Addidas Adidn't"

"10 toes down on Addidas"

I dont understand all the concern about this domain name being a TM issue. Havent the company shown that they dont need the domain - by virtue of letting it expire?

Some more good headlines:

"Adidas Shoes To Let Their Domain Expire"
"Addidas Adidas Adiddas - Which Is The Odd One Out?"
"Adidas Beaten At Their Own Sport"
"Adidas Foot The Bill For Terrible Mistake"

Domain expiration doesn't mean you relinquish your trademark rights.

Microsoft has let major domains expire (by accident), passport.com and hotmail.co.uk. Imagine the response the guy who re-registered passport.com got, he immediately said he did it as "a favor". :) Adiddas's lawyers WIPO'd a bunch of their typos in 2002 and they must have never turned them over to whoever manages their Internet stuff. Looks like this will happen again with some of their other WIPO'd typos.

I like "Addidas Adidn't"
