Darn, I only got two.

One is an enduser's attorney that I think we are close to finalizing. A dot net, two worder...

The other is a VCVC dot com.

Both of these are via direct email contact.

As foe Sedo, I bought a name yesterday on auction. But, can't complain - I've already sold six this year via Sedo.

I have a feeling that the .net sale will contain a non-disclosure clause. Attorneys like that stuff.

market must be heating up - lol. I finally closed a sale on Sedo yesterday. buyer paid a week ago but never initiated the transfer, so Sedo finally took the domain to their account and paid me.

no, i think the majority of offers being submitted on domain names, are lower than listed price or the expect price range.

so it's not just you :)

one has to either stand firm on pricing, or be flexible

BTW:

one of the potential buyers cancelled the negotiations, after i sent them a price.
however, i received a new offer on the same domain today from a different buyer. :)

also received a reply offer to a counter offer, in an ongoing negotiation.

so now it's up to me to accept, send to auction or send another counter offer

1/5? Hey, that's great! I'm usually in the 1/10 group.

I have received initial offers of something like $50 and end up selling for $2500 or better.

But most do seem to be about 1/10 of what I would consider a reasonable offer.

And those making the offers know this.

It's just gamesmanship.

it's because you are "biggie"

i doubt it...

it would be nice to be able to sell domains just on one's rep :)

but who i am or name recognition does nothing for my domain sales, imo

I am working with the other party's attorney on one name. I have asked for permission to share the agreement form with others. It is super! Succinct and to the point and very easy to follow.

The attorney is an "Intellectual Property & Technology practice group where he advises clients on the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights under trademark, trade secret and copyright law and on emerging technology issues involving the Internet. He is a member of the firm's Entertainment & Sports Law practice group".

We'll have this deal completed hopefully sometime next week.

no secret that hasn't been told before. i just wait for the higher offers

Good domain names at good prices.

i believe that to be true, as i will go flexible if the potential "counters up" the offers.

And being realistic in expectations.

that can be the tricky part...

for established markets where products/services are in the mainstream it's easier, but for "up and coming" trends, new releases, social movements, etc, it's a lot harder.

for instance, i have received lots of offers for "greenfriendly.com", but since the go green movement is still relatively new....setting a price is out of the question at this time.

imo...

Precisely. I realize I have let some names go "too early", ahead of the mainstream acceptance.

On the other hand, I know someone who has done very well ahead of the mainstream and continues to do so. Geeky and nerdy has its advantages. He will discuss something with me and get all excited about it and I (and most others) have no idea what he is talking about. Yet, he has been very successful with only a handful of domains owned.

I have received permission from the attorney to post and share the agreement.
