6-Figure Sale at Sedo Leads DNJournal's 1st Weekly Chart for 2009

The first weekly domain sales report of 2009 is out at DNJournal.com. The New Year holiday shortened the work week considerably so overall volume was understandably light, but there were still some very solid individual sales, led by a $167,500 bell ringer at Sedo.com. Sedo wound up sweeping the top three spots on our new Top 20 chart and piled up 10 of the 20 chart entries. Their list included a $57,000 German country code sale, one of eight ccTLDs on the all extension leader board as the country codes got off to a great start in 2009.

Really? From what I have discussed with some people the adult traffic large as it is just doesnt convert well to cash. Just what I heard when the name was in auction.

Like Denny said, this traffic was generated and could be done again, someone paid $167k for the genrated traffic, not the name.

Yup, I've heard that porn/adult traffic is hard to convert as well, as the RPC is extremely low, but with an Alexa rank of 4k it should get a huge amount of hits. I just had a look at Estibot's "Traffic (Visits / Day): 77,000" and with a.. let's say 10% CTR it should generate loads of daily revenue, even with a poor RPC. I know that Estibot's numbers are very speculative, but with that Alexa rank I wouldn't be surprised if it got at least 50k visitors/day.

This is not PARKED page, this is a project with free porn. With CTR about 2% and conversion 1:1000 (optimistic scenario) you do the math. BUT this tube could have some internal revenue model, not depending on advertisers, I did not check inside. But such site can be duplicated with some investment and effort.
