Mr Webname is correct - according to Nominet the complete transfer process will not have gone through. However, you will control the name, so effectively you do own it. See http://www.nominet.org.uk/MakingChangesToYourDomainName/Transfer/ for more info on how stupid the Nominet system is.

The buyer will have control but not legally own them. Basically, to own them you need to pay roughly £60gbp in transfer/ownership change fee's to legally own the .co.uk's.

Without completing the tiresome Nominet transfer process and paying £30 + VAT you will not ever own the name.
However tiresome that may be to the seller it needs to be fully understood to avoid a misunderstanding which has already given rise to a dispute between members here.

Agreed, it has to be said as the price is going quite high - however the process is not difficult, just lengthy. And the £30 is per name, but if the buyer wants to legally own them all, they can go through the Mass Transfer process for £60 + VAT.

http://www.nic.uk/MakingChangesToYourDomainName/Transfer/MassTransfers/MassTransfers.html

(£60 + VAT = £70.50, £70.50 in USD = $136.367, roughly)

Rich :-)

Okay, enough discussion - the point has been clearly made about the .uk names.
This only affects these names and the sale is perfectly valid.
