The site in your signature is only showing PR4 on my toolbar, and only has 297 backlinks when I checked on google.

Google has many datacenter, so the PR result will be different. In my Google toolbar it show PR8.

You are right about the backlink, seem google has been updated their data.

I just checked it via http://www.showmypagerank.com , the results :
