ADJM.COM

What do you think? RESELLER? END USER?

Couldn't believe it was registered when I got it. :-D
I also have ADJMP.COM and 23567.com.
Missed 2356.com a long time ago.

A - D - J - M

Cell Phone.
First letter of each button.
First legible square of digits.
On my Nextel, 4 hits and a [SEND], and I'm browsing the .COM.

ADJM = Ad Jam
ADJMP = Ad Jump

Ideal domain names for wireless services portal.

I'm being a little tongue in cheek playing it up, but I do fancy them.

Yeah. Right now, on my Nextel phone, hitting A + D + J + M + # + [SEND], sends me right there (# specifies the default .com), where I currently have a link to a Wap Whois utility (which is handy). There's not a whole lot of room in the domain space for names like this, as such, this name is a very rare commodity, imo. As phone based services become more handy, I'm sure this would present a perfect for launching a service. All being nice, unconfusable letters as well. Names like WapThis or WapThat, miss the point, as I think the technology will continue to change. Easy to remember, and easy to key-in, is of perennial value.

with that logic they definately have potential, but as you may notice, the market is limited both geographically and company wise.
I use vodaphone, and they have a diferent system than nextel.
Although you gave me some nice ideas to research :-)

If you don't mind me asking, how does "Vodaphone" work for web access? Number first, then letter (when keying through alternates)? Or entirely different?

My assumption has been, despite Nextel naming this technique (and someone undoubtably trying to patent it), that this was pretty standard. Haven't had a good opportunity to research in this area. I had a specific use for the names, but haven't had time to develop them yet (part of a larger online advertising platform).

they have a key, that you press on the phone, and it takes you to the browser.
Then you just type in the wap address.
I will look into what the actual command behind the key is. I am sure it sends out a specific command.

P.S.

The name is vodafone, I always 'mispell' it, by ironically using the correct word, phone instead of fone as they do.

Nice. Ok... "Vodafone". I got it. :-D But, I was wondering, so after you press the "browser" button, could you hit "2 - 3 - 5 - 6" and see "ADJM" typed out as an address? On my Nextel, hitting the "2" key for instance types "A" on the screen... if I hit it again quickly, the "A" changes to a "B", hit again, to a "B", then a "C" and finally a "2" before going back to an "A". Likewise, all the other buttons cycle through numbers, but the easiest letters to type are those first items on each button.

Then I guess, do you always need to type ".COM" at the end or is there a shortcut? Nextel used to automatically default to ".COM" at the end, if no extension was given. They changed it now, so that you have to type "#" at the end for that to work, but the net result is the same.

It's a cumbersome system, but its still practical to a degree.

I like your logic, very clever. Difficult to value, first impressions is it’s just an ‘ok’ four letter .com and as such would be worth about $25, however if you sell your idea (and I for one like it) you could maybe achieve a few hundred $, much more if you really sell your idea well and the interested party has deep pockets :-) .

yes, thats how it works here as well. The first key with letters in it is the '2' key, with abc. hitting it twice gives the b etc...
it doesnt default to .com, you need to type it out.

Really, the "square" of buttons in the upper right hand corner of your phone? I was thinking about the buttons in a square.

1agj.com would be the "first" square (2 x 2), but I think it looks horrible... but this was regged in 2000 anyway... JMTW.com is the lower right square (regged in 2002). The lower LEFT square is GJPT.com. Someone picked this one up last November 2003. --And ADJM.com is the upper right square of buttons.

Ug. You guys are thinking about a "staggered" square. I think the only "real" squares are still the ones I mentioned above. I'm thinking "lazy", and not having your thumb move more than one button over left or right. :wink: 2-3-4-5 is harder to hit than 1-2-4-5 or 2-3-5-6, imo. Kind of the difference between being able to key it with your eyes closed, and having to peek. :-)
