Looks like Adsense for domains is opening up:

Posted By Inside AdSense Team to Inside AdSense at 12/11/2008 09:08:00 A

Many publishers have approached us looking for a way to monetize their domains, and today, we're excited to announce the expansion of AdSense for domains. This product allows publishers to earn revenue through ads placed on undeveloped domains.

With AdSense for domains, users can find relevant information rather than see empty pages or "page not found" errors. Today we present ads, links, and search results on the pages, and may add other useful information in the future. To ensure positive user experience and the quality of our network, these sites are monitored for policy compliance and prohibited from using text and images designed to confuse users.

Advertisers also have additional opportunities to find their customers, and ads on these pages convert well. In addition, we regularly receive requests from advertisers who have found domains to be an effective way to reach their users.

The product will be initially rolled out in phases to English-language AdSense publishers located in North America, and we'll expand to additional regions and languages in the future. To check whether AdSense for domains has been enabled for your account, log in and visit your AdSense Setup tab. For more information, please visit our Help Center.

Wow. Appears they want to cut out the parking companies share.

Edit - From google help:

When will I see AdSense for domains in my account?

During the week following December 11th, we'll be gradually rolling out AdSense for domains to all North American publishers with English-language accounts. You should expect to see it appear in your account by December 18th, 2008

I wonder what impact this will have on the many parking companies with a Google feed. I guess it depends on the revenue share Google is offering to domain owners, but without the parking companies in between the share should be good.

From the parking services' point of view, this shows that you shouldn't be dependent on one business partner only. Now that Google is trying to get a larger share of the domain channel's traffic, I can imagine they might also try to compete with their partners in some way or the other.

it sound like a great approach....if you have a good domain name it should generate better than parking the name with the parking companies out there. I would think you will not be able to promote your site....but great if that was a possibility. Interesting to find out more.

Yeah, it's not in my account yet either, I already checked.

I think this is a great idea. I've always made much more from adsense than any parking company anyways. Seems like they are going to have some nice features.

Once you find a website using the "adsense for domains" post the link here please!

Hi

don't be so quick to thank google

on the surface, it seems great for domainers

but once everyone is on the googlewagon, then.....

that's when they will have complete control

as by then, they will have eliminated the middlemen between us and them and many domainers will be dependent on G

once that happens, they will start to implement new policies and standards.

some or most you may not like it in the end

they are definetly looking for ways to monopolize internet traffic

imo...

Their market reach is now on par with a prostate exam... scrap the word "monopoly", and let's call it what it really is, a "race to the tonsils". :D

Big news!

With Adsense, I very rarely get any adjustments on revenue, unlike with parking rev which never looks the same once finalised; 9 times out of 10 it's revised downwards.

Be interesting to see how this all pans out. Things could look very different a year from now.

At least one person understand Economy 101 :D

You may think you'll get more $ by cutting out middleman
and it may as well be that at first, but, not for long.

Parking co. may get % of revenue, but, they have power
to negotiate with Google since Parking co. have tons of members' domains.

By going directly with Google for your domains, you are just one.
Thus, not much power to negotiate with Google.

Google will destroy domainers income ONE BY ONE!

Think about it.
Who get more salary?
Union members or non-union members?

Union members pay union membership fee, but, they get more salary!

its really impressive, i m sure Google will defend this move by saying this way domain will have better content to show and this is their initial goal bla bla bla

On first thought this is great for us but Google is evil and i m afraid there is more to think about.

Definitely could be interesting.

Google trying to cut out the ppc companies.
If Yahoo and/or MSN follows the act, there would be direct competition, but which way? Competition to sell the adspace to advertisers for less given the current econimic environment to gain market share (less money for us), or competition to get the domainers with them? (more money for us)
