I have had a couple of blogs in the past that drew some decent traffic, but I have never been able to monetize this with adsense...

I am starting up another blog-based site and I was just wondering if anyone could share some tips or success stories for ad placement on a blog? I am going to use a custom WordPress template...

Thanks!

Try to put adsense in a place where peope would see it and make it blend in.
A small ad above the post, right after the title and after the post text usually do good.

A lot of bloggers makes money using adsense. It's all depend on your contents and traffic. I have recreated my blog using blogger.com, got some click from members of the board I guess. Well because my audience are domaineers.

Traffic equals more adsense earnings, and work on niches that have high adsense clicks.

Run the ads down the upper right side of the page, 120x600 size. Make it blend in with your page. The revenue all depends on traffic and subject matter. You can put up to three adsense banners on one page, so use the max. also one on the bottom of the page, 468x60, because people usually scroll down to the bottom to see what's there.

You need lots of traffic and the right niches for adsense revenues. Clickthrough rate and revenues tends to go down these days.
