On May 17–21, 2025, it.com Domains joined the INTA (International Trademark Association) 2025 Annual Meeting in San Diego, California, USA. Tess Diaz, Director of Channel Development, Joe Alagna, Chief Strategy Officer and Sergey Gorbunov, Director of Registry Services, and Alessandro Baruffi, Director of International Partnerships, represented the company at the event.

The event drew over 10,000 experts, including brand specialists, intellectual property professionals, and government officials. This year’s theme was “The Business of Intellectual Property,” emphasizing how intellectual property fuels innovation and business growth.

Over five days, attendees engaged in panel discussions, educational workshops, and speaker presentations spanning three tracks: Law and Policy, Business and Technology, and Professional Development and Career Growth.

At our booth, event participants could get acquainted with our Registry Service Provider (RSP) program in more detail. It’s a system for managing domain extensions. With RSP, the domain zone administrator can easily organize the registration of domain names and effectively manage them by confirming, renewing, and canceling registrations.

For it.com Domains, it was a great opportunity to gain further exposure within the broader intellectual property community as a registry, to share our best practices, and to gain new knowledge. The development of the domain industry and the safety of all its participants are very important to us, so in view of the upcoming new TLDs (Top-Level Domains) application round from ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), as a Registry Service Provider (RSP), we also aimed to connect with companies and brands that are considering running their own TLD and looking for a back-end provider to team up with,

said Alessandro Baruffi.

At INTA, our team unveiled a new book, How to Get Your Own Top-Level Domain: An Insider’s Guide to ICANN’s Application Process, written by Joe Alagna and Andrey Insarov. They have firsthand experience navigating the journey from application to launch. Alagna has spent two decades immersed in the domain name industry. In 2012, he advised on 60 successful generic top-level domain (gTLD) applications, including .xyz, .club, and .app. Insarov, on the other hand, brings a global entrepreneurial perspective and firsthand experience charting the shifting domain landscape. The book aims to share our knowledge and guide readers through this path, while exploring the potential of a long-term digital business venture. This guide provides business leaders, entrepreneurs and governments with a clear roadmap on how to become part of the domain industry.
