I do not think adult related domain names should be allowed to be listed in the chat room.

Ages 13+ are allowed to participate in the chat and this is a disgrace.

After I asked them to stop..

I would appriciate it if some members would try to act more professional, not only on the forum, but also in the chat.

You should file a ticket in the support desk.

I can't even see why this subject warrants a thread or discussion of any kind, if you don't like the channel use the remote.

I think a seperate chat room for adult name discussion would be beneficial. Although the argument about the channel and remote is a good argument, people go into the chat room for many reasons. Most people go there for social reasons, or to sell/advertise a product, very few go there to have an adult discussion, or sell adult domains.

Sure we can all pick on Duncan, but is he the problem? Theres no red light that pops up as a warning for minors to leave when adult dicussions are about to be brought up, and some of the minors i nthe chat room don't want to hear that kind of stuff. Nobody is going to be permanantly harmed from reading the chats, but most don't want to see that.

This is a domain forum for everyone and should be accomodated for everyone, adult sales threads are not allowed in general forums, even though minors have the choice of not reading those threads.

As much as it hurts me to say it, I'm gonna have to agree with Duncan on this one. We should have a seperate chat room for adult related discussion, or ban it completely from chat rooms.

If thats the cases as it stands slava, and I can see your logic entirely...which makes perfect sense, then I agree. But could we also allow for an adults only room (not adult domain related chat) using the same logic, its perfectly obvious on many occasions who the minors are in the chat room.
If I wanted to have children of my own I would, and I don't want to spend my increasingly sparce time on DNF caring for other peoples offspring.

I guess, I really don't understand the logic in skirting around the issue of adult domains. It's probably the largest sector on the "virtual world" yet a large cross section of people pretends it doesn't exsist. Or if it's brought up in the domain world that makes you some kind of twisted freak. I consider myself a capitalist and as a capitalist I invest money where ever I can get a return, regardless of my personal beliefs.

I am not saying that exposing children to pornography is acceptable in any manner whatsoever. But let's face it, saying "*&^%.com" is hardly pornography, and something kids as young as they can speak say. And last time I checked it isn't illegal to say "$#@@.com" in front of a 16 teen yr old.

I don't think the discussing of adult domains is anywhere close to cyber-sex. It's just another genre in the domain industry that we as capitalist shouldn't shy away from.

I'm not 100% sure of that, esp. in the States when local laws vary.

I guess the core of the question here is less about moral but more about mainstream business practice. It's true that porn makes up a HUGE part of the Internet (what a pity); HOWEVER, you may also have noticed that very few Fortune 500 corporations get their hands on the "dirty" thing. Reason: it's "dirty"! It would be wise from the business point of view to totally separate adult-related materials from mainstream practice. For instance, there could well be an AdultDNForum to take care of that portion of the market.

Disclaimer: I do visit porn sites A LOT and think consensual and unexploited sex is fine (and fun). (You could guess I HATE family-friendly websites and tv shows.) HOWEVER, most people don't think so, or at least dare not to admit that they love sex; THAT's what the problem is. And when we are doing business, it matters.

ditto. I own an adult site, but I as a businessman, I won't promote it to minors, cause that is not what I stand for.

Maybe add a Marketplace channel for buying/selling, and label it "Adults Only" or something.

Personally, if someone frequents dnf enough to use the chatroom and can't handle adult discussion, they have more problems than just seeing a few sexually-oriented words.

I am not referring to you, I was just stating my position on it for myself. I would not post an adult name in chat, atleast if I know that 1 of the fellow chatters are under 18. I'll ask people to pm me for the name if I have an adult name to sell.

To be frank, I don't see the correlation between a) frequenting DNForum or any other forum and its chatroom, and b) able or not to "handle" "adult" discussion. Since when is watching porn and talking dirty a skill? LOL!

Well since when is saying a bad word the same as watching porn?

I don't think anyone viewed any porn here. From what I gather this is a matter of questionable language. Saying for example the word B**B or Sh*t has nothing to do with making a minor view pornography.

No one forced any minor to view porn, at best there was some questionable language.

This is getting blown way out of proportion. This feels like I'm watching the O'Riley Factor. :cheeky:

Damn, Anyone who moans about it is immature and seriously needs to grow up, Its a fact of life, Get used to it.

Maybe all users entering chat should agree to some sort of TOS or indeed make it over 16's, But then what happens to the mature under 16's?

If people arent mature enough to forget about something they see in the chatroom, They cant accept that adult material etc actually exists then they are no where near mature enough to do business on the forums.

Terrorism is worse than adult, Do you see people crying when somebody chats about terrorism in chat?

Hey guys... this issue has been settled... simply go into the 18+ chat that has been created, if its not there when you go into the chat, then create one and all else will follow. Its only going to hurt that one person who doesnt want to see adult material.
