Advice on expiring name

Anyone snap a DN from AOL?

Currently AOL owns a name that I want. It's not a great name but is useful to me and it expires soon.
It is not in use and looks as though it never has been.
Someone else has the snap on it so I am going to use all other alternatives.
My other option is to contact AOL directly.

Any advice is appreciated.

I think I read it here somewhere that AOL is its own registrar and that for a domain to be released, they would have to release it. So there's little to no chance it will ever release to where a snap would get it.

I am surprised that someone spent the money for the snapback unless maybe they didn't look at the whois.
