it's not the way it works, they picks up long tail traffic from occasional searches, you don't really need that many so it pays off. 1 visitor a day would be more than enough to make it very profitable
Wasn't that exactly what I said?
different models apply different standards, there is no one single proper way.
If it is profitable, then it works, as any business should be.
Do the math, you profit? then great, scale things up.
Things change you gotta keep up with the trends
Naturally different models applies different standards, but then again there's really no point in selling yourself short, is there? It's the same work, but there's a difference between doing it wrong and doing it smart.

So we basically agree :)

Since I have as many as 1,000 domains relating to a particular competitive keyword or phrase, it would not be possible for every one of them to be "#1", so that doesn't even make sense.
Granted, I'm going to refer to:

Also, I dont think anybody was trying to imply that all your sites should be ranked #1, simply that given an incredibly competitive market, crosslinking in this manor would be an inhibitory factor.

Wonder what do you mean by selling yourself short and what does it have to do with 13K domains :)
I'm not here to argue, but to share experience and hopefully learn something new. I do SEO for living, not for clients, but for my own sites, so what I post is what I tried and tested.

I mean, why be satisfied with 1 se hit a day, when you can have 2 :)

I'm here to share experience as well, and i'm in the same boat as you. I do seo for my sites for a living as well, and I only share my own experiences.

The question of this thread was whether using 1 IP for thousands of domains will get you banned by Google. I answered THAT question.

Since I have as many as 1,000 domains relating to a particular competitive keyword or phrase, it would not be possible for every one of them to be "#1", so that doesn't even make sense. As I said, most ARE listed and ranked, as high as PR4, and they get traffic from SE's. That answers the question of this thread.

With 1000 names in the same field, just by cross linking them, (if you have been doing it a while) you have created authority sites. I think this is harder to to successfully, but I have done this in several fields with great success. By putting the time and effort comes $$, short cuts loose.
