After I have said that I want a domain, but haven't paid, can people take my domain?

Hi.

After I have said that I want a domain, but haven't paid, can people then take my domain? For instanse, if I want to register the domain tordb.com and I tell godaddy about it. However, you know how godaddy has a lot of annoying salges pages to go through before I can register. If another person wanted to register the same domain as I, but did at another registration site, would that person get the domain then? I hope you all understand what I asked about

I've never had that experience. I can't say that it will not happen, but I've never experienced it with GoDaddy or 1&1.

I've even waited a couple of days in between and still was able to get it.
