Hi
I've got to admit, i'm a little sickened by this
as, prior to it happening, I had somehow thought
that Afternic and Register.com were ok.
Anyway, I contacted Register.com some weeks
ago about a domain that expired (over a year ago!)
but was still showing them as registrar, and the
previous owner as registrant.
It turns out the prev. owner hadn't paid them the
reg. fees, and so I made them an offer to buy it.
Instead they appropriated the name for themselves
and put it into an Afternic domain 'auction'...
I made a bid on the name, met the auction 'reserve'
and a couple of days later got a really shallow email
from Afternic saying that Register.com had now taken
the name out of the auction because of 'ownership
issues' and that they were sorry (oh, but they still
somehow wanted to claim they are proud of their
customer service!).
This has left a really disgusting taste in my mouth;
has anyone else fallen foul of Afternic or Register.com
in this way?
