We all know age and keywords matter, but what about link data?

I’m researching how AI scoring models handle backlink quality — not just quantity — for dropped domains.
Some domains with only a handful of clean backlinks seem to outperform those with 500+ spammy links.

What’s been your experience?
Would love to hear from those who have tracked ranking or resale success based on backlink trust.

as I see it > TLD comes first, then in how many TLDs a domain is registered, then is it clean (characters, numbers, hyphens). These would be top 3. Then there come: single word or not, cost per click price.

but, when are talking about seo domains > they have totally different rules > then it is all about the possible traffic, DA, DR, niche and similar

I got a nice bump in referral traffic by focusing on guest posting on high quality blogs, especially ones that already had solid engagement in my niche. What helped me most was choosing sites with strong trust signals instead of just chasing metrics. Paying only after I was happy with the placement took the stress out of testing things, so I could scale slowly without blowing my budget

Backlinks still matter, but I don’t think they’re the full picture anymore. AI seems to rely more on how clearly a site can be interpreted, not just how many signals point to it. I’ve seen cases where sites with strong backlinks still don’t get picked up in AI generated answers. So something else is clearly influencing that layer. I’ve been testing this a bit with a tool we built: GEO Checker curious if others are seeing the same.
