ALL 5 number domains were not sold they are still under the control of the Department of Commerce,, neustar is on a yearly license to administer and acts as the registry for .us,,the doc has wanted the directory for sometime to bring .us into the general public mainstream ,,, thats one of the obligations of neustar for acting as the registry is to partner with providers to get the reserved names live,,,,they split the revenue between neustar and private companies building out the reserved names,,,,

ownership of the reserved names will always rest with doc .

another brilliant move let someone else bring value to your domains while costing you nothing and still keep complete control to dictate how the sites are run.

no problem

personally i dont think they (doc and neustar) have the skills or know how to bring about such a network to make it work (make money from it) which why having it privatized in development ,,they (doc and nstar) have the names ,numbers and dns servers to offer,,

its an unbelivable start but will still come down to how well they excute in adding content, local data and tie it all together..
