In the UK, we have cellphone (mobile) tariffs for pay monthly, and 'Pay as you Go', or 'Pay as you Talk'. Is the acronym PAYG used much in the USA?

Google results seem to indicate so, but I'd just like a few opinions.

Thanks for your input.

In Canada where we do pretty much the same thing as our Southern neighbours - the term is used but not the acronym. Not yet anyways!

more like "pre-paid", as americans like to get the money first! :)

it's all within the "no contract" sales routine.

Yeah, we use "pre-pay" here also. As you say Don, all these are 'no contract' tariffs. Looks like I may have a dud domain -- won't mention the extension :-)

Heard "Pay as you go" alot, but not the acro. But maybe PayG could stand for Pay Google. Just kidding... maybe Pay Gold though!

pre-paid cards are very popular here.. not uncommon to be in line at the convenience store and someone up front is buying one. As for the Acronym.... I've never heard/seen it.

Good luck with it azooza

Pay as you go is common... not the acronym and Ive never heard the pay as you talk phrase here in the US. Usually most cell places offer pre-paid cards to put in phones to add cell minutes... Either that or you sign up for a monthly plan with X number of minutes included in your plan.
