I am in possession of these two one word .biz domains, anime.biz and manga.biz, which I believe are high in the ranks of words searched for in the net. Both also broadly define the whole market segment, anime more than manga. I have had two tentative emails asking if I would be willing to sell one of the domains, but no price quote. Could you pros here give me some estimations? I do realize that the tld .biz is nowhere near as valuable as .com. No sites have been developed for them, since I have been busy with my studies.

Below are some recent quotes of the size of anime and manga markets I found from ICv2 Retailers Guide to Anime/Manga .

Manga Market Skyrockets in 03
Anime Up 10-20%

Anime continued a long string of winning years in 2003, and while its 10-20% growth rate was a fraction of manga's, it's still a rapidly growing category by any other standards. We estimated the total market for anime at $550-$600 million at retail.

Starting from smaller numbers, the manga market was the fastest growing area of pop culture last year, with 75-100% growth to an estimated market size of around $100 million at retail.

And here is an older quote of japanese animation market size:

Geographic ref.: Japan
Market size: $8.06 billion
About the data: "Computer technology is rapidly changing the Japanese animation, or anime, industry, which is worth a whopping ¥ 1 trillion ($8.06 billion)."
Source: Sato, Makoto, "Digital Assistance." Nikkei Weekly, April 16, 2001, p. 3.

Other three domains that I would also appreciate appraisals for are:
classical.info
generation.info
xhtml.info

Himm, well if anime and manga had the .info extension, I think they would have been a bit more valuable IMHO. Though .biz can still work. I'd say $xxx to an end user.

If any name works for .BIZ its these 2.
anime.biz $500
manga.biz $300

manga has TM issues, be great for comic sales if they allow it.
Anime.biz would suit a small graphics company,

Manga.biz could be big developed, a small ad in comics
would be very effective with this name.

Ask for $2000 if you don't need the sale now.

I want to say they're quite valuable. The .com's are just sitting around... manga.com is parked and anime.com is an amazon.com linkfarm.

If you put up some real content you could attract a good fanbase. I'd say they're worth a lot more developed, but mid $xxx on anime and lower $xxx on manga to a reseller based on the keywords.

The manga TM issue wouldn't bother me too much... a quick search on tess (uspto.gov) doesn't turn up a US registered tm on the term itself. Looking at manga.com, the name of the company appears to be "manga video". I don't know Japanese, but I remember hearing from a friend that manga is the Japanese word for anime, could be wrong tho.

If you want a hand putting up a store (dvds, toys, etc), let me know. :-D
