I actually like the pure extension .travel. At least it is a viable market. .travel was way too restricted when first released as registrants had to jump through hoops to qualify. This was like climbing uphill with a 100 pound weight around your neck. The timing was not right.

As far as answers.travel, it looks and smells like a totally manufactured news event. I have found other recent "press releases" that subtly pump the .travel extension which points to smoke and mirrors. Similarly, it amazes me to no end that ICANN are trying to push more multiple new gTLD's.

If its real, it will be reported on DnJournal.com.

Really hard to believe.

well from my sources the press did not come from the registry. so its not hype coming from them.

My thoughts are that this is not a ploy to market the .travel tld, but a very smart ploy although shady to market answers.travel. What more ways to get hits to your site than to be able to legitamize the site by promoting it as being sold for 3.3 million.

I'm sure the site has had an enormous amount of hits within the last few weeks. Good idea and maybe others will follow suit to use such shady marketing practices.

IMO it was welll worth to spend all that money in doing press releases to market the site.

pizza.com had a huge spike in traffic right after the Sedo auction and the owner had his 15 minutes of fame. The traffic died down very fast though. http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/pizza.com Click on the max tab to get April.

Well no offense here but anyone who pays more than a million for a .com is probably a fool (I feel I'm going to regret this statement).

While I don't agree with .tel's strategy i feel they are the biggest threat to .com. I own 0 .tel domains though. If they allow it to be as free as .com they could be huge.

none taken and I hope for domains sake you are correct, however I feel I'm right. People would rather eat than use their favorite website which relies on advertising and when those advertisers go.......

As for .tel I feel it is more marketable if done properly because it associated with the telephone which everyone uses unlike .net/.org....just me

Crazy money, I just bought www.legostoys.com/net/org yesterday and estibot has valued it at $37,000 strange. I found it with niche finder and they exacy keywords get searched in the same order 9,900 times a month with an exact phrase count of 5,190 and a commecial intent percentage of 99% allot of potential with these sites but surely am not that lucky and it is really worth $37k for the .com website?or have a really struck a lucky site. whats everyones thoughts?

probably should have : - ) but it was a relevant thread

I'm surprised that legostoys.com was not mentioned until page 3 of the answers.travel thread. It's hard to comtemplate one without pondering the other.

Hahahaha! Legostoys.com... I not only bought it, I spammed a forum with it.

Seriously, that's on par with being checkmated in eight moves by a dung beetle. "Ohhh the queen, I didn't see the queen!! Wait a minute, that's not a queen, it's got grass sticking out of it..."
