For Sale Any luck with GoDaddy.com ?

I have NEVER been able to grab a single name throgh backorder service of GoDaddy.com

Please share your experience with GoDaddy in grabbing expiring names. Thanks.

I have also caught few names with greater than 8.75 namewinner bid, probably no more than 20 or so.

But then I have had over 1000 attempts.

Mostly, they suck and waste a lot of time and email space with their "xxxx.com registration attempt failed" emails!

You would think that GoDaddy, with all their resources would do better, but they always get beat by the big boys with the real power!

Have to disagree!

GoDaddy only has 2 registrars going for the names, against the likes of snapnames & pool who both have double digit registars at their expense... clearly if anyone sucks it is snapnames BY A LONG SHOT!

I have a few open snap slots now that have just been sitting there cause I can't be bothered using them as they never get anything decent anyway..

I am surprised . Snapnames and namewinner have consistently got me dozens of good names. GoDaddy failed me each time.

I agree with cyphix.

Take into account Godadday's two registrars compared to 20ish at pool, 15ish at SnapNames and however many at NW now.

Also the cost at Godaddy.com is under US$20, little more than the cost of registration, whereas the equivalent unlimited exchange at snapnames is around 6 times the cost of a registration.

NW bids can be very costly, although maybe WebCat is referring to the $8.75 bids, in which case you are getting very good value and worthwhile sticking with NW.

I do agree with WebCat that the e-mails take up a lot of resources (and a bit of time to sort out) compared to the success rate.

Also, Godaddy.com is fairly time intensive work, more suited to those with lower income requirements, perhaps?

I assume also, because it is cheap, it has that problem that it has to go for a very large number of names, (including ones that are really only worth the basic reg fee) so it is probably going to struggle to get a good percentage of the more competed for names, but will probably do well on the lower class names.

Having quoted above , it does not matter of snap uses 15 registrars and charges $70 whereas godaddy uses 2 registrars and charges $20. I have one backorder worth $20 with godaddy and they have sent so many sorry emails that I just stopped counting . I only wish they get me one name for my $20 and I will be done with them.

I have gotten some fairly decent stuff when you consider that their 'Snaps' are just $7.95 if you buy there expired names list (yes, it's usless but) for $29.95/month. It is all a matter of brute force and chance. They seem to be able to get names up to about the $30-$100 NW catagory with some regularity with an occassional one up to $250 with regard to NW. I fill my lost names everyday though and never plan to get the names that I really want though. They may actually do better than SnapNames and for a tenth of the price. They certainly don't do worse. You can often find something decent to insert there even a few days before while damned never everything is taken at SnapNames. SN may really have no incentive to improve as long as they stay a sellout, I would guess! As for me, my remaining 10 Snaps are my last ones.

I don't mean to sound cynical about goDaddy, because I like them as a registrar. But NOT as a backorder service!

Just to test, I looked throught my list of (many) FAILED goDaddy backorders, and they failed about 100% when there was competition from NW, Pool and SNapnames.

Plus they sent about 7 emails per backorder, the first 6 saying "We're gonna get it......", and the 7th saying "Sorry, We Failed!"

HOWEVER...... If you want to backorder a name like Butt-Yogi-123.net, they will get it for you every time!

Maybe Pool and NW allocate effort and resources based on the estimated valu of the name.

I doubt they (Pool & NW) will expend the exat same effort for ButtYoga.net, as they would for Sale.com!

But I'm just guessing!

But isn't a domain like lasvegasbuffet.com one of those names you see bid up to 400 or 500 at NW, but put it for sale here and you can't get $20.00?

And Edwin, were those names existing traffic names already in play? If not some are obscure enough that they might have dropped then been avail for reg fee.

And finally......, isn't ANYONE interested in Butt-Yogi-123.com?
