I have to find a new provider for my serving needs and I have just a few questions. I've had a server for several years now, but my current person is reseller, and my server has issues.

Just need a few minutes of someones time. Thanks

well like one of them is "managed" I mean I need my server to back its self up and I write my host maybe every two months, is that managed?

my other big issue is my backup drive. I would like a decent size backup without paying $50 a month for it. I mean it only costs that much so i really shouldn't have to pay $2k for it as thats what I have in my current one....

You want a managed server unless you have the time to deal with all the hassles.
"Manage" a server is different from backup/restore. Many hosting companies offer RAID levels so there is No Single Point of Failure.

Well I feel sure I want a managed server, though dont think my guy is doing much of anything, he is a reseller and my server has just become way too slow, after three years I haven't been updated, and his reply time to urgent support is bad. But I also have a 250 gig backup and people want an arm and a leg for that. And them I need WHM.

he has proven to me that he doesnt value my business and doesnt really know what he is doing, but over the last several months my load times on wp or joomla just isnt acceptable.

The hosting business is very competitive. You don't have to suffer with poor services.
Transfer sites from server to server is very simple (since you have root access) and many hosting companies will do it for you free.

Is this the site you want transferred?

Can be easily done and backups should cost you under $50.

Let me know if you need help in the am.

Thanks no its 200 sites or so. Good or bad I made my call just had some really bad hosts in the pasts and had several go out of business too. But I save $6 and have two more processors, slightly faster, 6 more ram, and double the drive space, and I think my managed server might be managed. Sadly they wont help on the move. Figure I will do a lot of house cleaning and will only pull over 20-30.

Again thanks for the offer. Its going to be a long couple of days to get mostly moved and bill canceled but I'm tired of a slow server and someone that acts like they are doing me a favor to give them $200 a month.

I hoped I picked a good one, got my back up for free, not monthly fee. I didnt get the newest fastest server, but just like my pc and tv, I dont need super duper fast and features, just working is all I need. Load times of 10-15 seconds just doesnt cut it.

For a scaleable solution from a simple WHM VPS all the way up to clusters,.. I can highly recommend Servint servers.

They have helped me on several occasions for several sites with different requirements.

And they off free off-site daily backups.

Not knowing your exact needs I can suggest they likely have a reasonable solution.
