Several months ago, I recorded the following search volumes from the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. They seem to be less now, but that's probably part of natural fluctuations:
4,400 exact searches per month in Google
40,500 phrase searches per month in Google
486,000 Google phrase searches yearly
Even today, which seems to be a lull, there are 3,500 exact searches between the plural and the singular (contained in the plural).
Apps are only going to get BIGGER over time.
The .COM is already taken, making AppDevelopers.net the best domain left on the market for a whole profession / industry.
