Any thoughts?

thanks,

In reference to domain names, then any appraisal that you can offer for $1 is not likely to be any more comprehensive than those being offered by the free online appraisal systems already out there....why would I pay $1 for something I can get for free?

I can't think of an appraisal scheme for any other industry where you could market a creditable service for $1 either.

Ironically 25DollarAppraisal or something along those lines would likely be more valuable in this case because you could at least hang a viable appraisal service off the back of that kind of charge.

Thanks for your appraisal!! :-)

My idea was to start an appraisal 'forum' where every domain, website or logo that is posted will be appraised by a team of 20-30 'experts'. Guaranteed.

So, people will not hesitate to post a request for an appraisal with a fear that no one would bother to appraise, like this name was waiting for an appraisal for one and half year and even got deleted before I re-registered today!

Anyway, that is just an idea..anyone with me on this idea?

thanks,

1 dollar is too cheap for appraisal, it will never fly. Good luck

I agree..but the idea is not about giving cheaper appraisals but it's about giving 'guranteed appraisals' by a team of senior domainers/designers etc..

This can prevent appraisal scams too.. When someone can get a 'guranteed appraisal' in a forum, they will less likey become victims..

Thanks for the comments..more are welcome.

No such thing as a "guaranteed appraisal" unless your going to back it up with a promise to buy at the appraised price should the person fail to sell the domain.

If you mean that you'll guarantee someone will give an opinion on the name, then to be honest, I'd far rather rely on a forum like this whereby you get a wide variety of opinions and sometimes the odd idea or suggestion that you haven't thought about thrown in.

Another reason your idea seems fundamentally flawed is that if you have 20 "experts" appraising a domain and your only getting $1, then they are only going to get 5 cents from each appraisal. I'd have to seriously question how much of an expert they were if they were selling their services that cheap.

Aside from all that, any value for this lies in the idea/service and not in the domain name itself.

Yes, idea is to guarantee that 20-30 'experts' will appraise..no matter if the name is valuable or not..so you will not be left in the dark, like I have been waiting for one and half year for someone to comment on the name..:-(

As for the price, 'Dollar stores' carry $10 items too as we all know..Price is not the issue here..imo.

thanks,
