I posted a thread on this forum a few months back politely asking for an appraisal for my domain name azam.com and whether I should take up an offer I had received

The response on the whole was full of vitriol, jealously and one DNForum user was blatantly racist and Islamaphobic telling me go to back to the third world (?) and referring to my religion of being a Muslim for no reason whatsoever. In nearly a decade of running an online business, I have never suffered such a barrage of cynicism and personal abuse on any forum. The most offensive remarks were eventually removed by the mods, but the thread remains here. I was so hurt by the pack of wolves mentality here that I stopped posting at DNForum.

I'd just to state that I have sold the domain name, for $75,000.

Thank you to the kind users - mainly on other forums - who told me to remain strong and not let jealous and destructive people, most of whom hide their identity, upset me too much. It is upon their repeated encouragement that I am posting here to inform people that the domain name has been sold for the offered price I mentioned in my thread several weeks back.

The only thing you ever have to worry about in this business is finding names that other people want to buy. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks as long as you have great names and people pay you off to acquire them.

Most of the replies I saw said "take the money and run", and this might be the one instance I agree with that mentality. Most people who own domains cave in once they get any kind of offer. Someone could offer them $150 for a name and they counter with $175, or just take the $150....these people are the best! They have so little confidence in their names that they are constantly afraid that the potential buyer will disappear if they don't accept the lowball offers. They always put the buyer in control.

What most people don't realize is that if someone is offering 73K for name then they likely will offer more than that. However, in this case I give you credit for not accepting immediately....that took guts.

My Pay Pal is Quack Quack @ Let me hold 5K till Thursday.com.

I never commented before but I will now. To me 2k is not worth the risk. You have to understand that you were fortunate that will not happen all of the time. You took a risk and it went well and for that you have made a great decision, if you had lost the entire offer for 2k it might have been looked upon differently. For me, I salute you and other risk takers and I am happy to hear you received what you wanted for the name. That is awesome. I own AZPM.com so I watching this one. Honestly I would have left 2k at the table. Dumb on my part... Either was it was a great deal.

In the end.. who cares what anybody online thinks of you.. sure you dont go out of your way to make enemies.. but at the end of the day we are all a bunch of nerds registering "pretend" things go play with....
