try to be creative, maybe find some good sounding, short names that dont mean anything, but sound like they could, essentially creating a brand name before the brand, some examples for those kind of domains are violis.com siella.com or wallert.com, they dont mean anything, but they look like they could, they even get traffic.. just made them up,
also..stick with .com unless the other tld makes sense.. another strategy is to register domains in an area of business that you know very well, for example if you worked many years in the fitness/health field you might come up with good names in that field before someone else does especially with new things that emerge in that area, just to give you examples again, fitnessusa.org (here the org makes sense) vipworkout.com taebofitness.com vitalcheckup.com, they are not great names, but they are ok names, they do get some ok traffic, I just regged them, some of them were expired domains, and I have gotten offers for all of them.. if you register a name ask yourself if you would pay some money even as a reseller to own that name before you register it,
