(1) TOTAL NUMBER OF HITS: The average number of daily visitors is
about 2,000, with fewer than average on the weekends, but more than
the average on Mondays and Tuesdays. Of course that makes it about
14-15,000 a week, about 60,000 or so a month.
Here's a breakdown of some numbers beginning in January 1, 2006 up
until today, July 4, 2006, basically a half-year:

(2) REFERRALS: Of the 15,000 the last week of June, about 11,000 (83%)
are direct hits ("non-referral"), about 600 (4%) hits are through
Google searches, about 150 (1%) hits are through Yahoo searches, and,
surprisingly, about 150 (1%) hits are through the blog Crooked Timber
(and this has been pretty consistent since they put a link to my site
on their front page last year). I also get a non-trivial number from
Technorati, a service for weblogs that tracks blog commentary. The
rest depends on the day or on specific mentions, and vary accordingly.
