Have I done something to upset people on this forum? Please let me know if I have, as this is the second time I've been totally blanked whilst asking for an appraisal

Nope.

It's just that appraisals are at a all-time low lately & these names aren't real good.

With so many sub-par names posted in the appraisal section you will notice a lot of names will not get any appraisals.

Even some so-so names won't even get any comments... this section used to be buzzing about a year ago, but is getting slower & slower as time goes on lately.

Part of the reason for this is because some of the top appraisers left or were banned from the forum.

Some of them used to appraise pretty much every name which also helped drum up conversation on the name... there really is a shortage of these people now.

I've made suggestions numerous times to help this area, each time getting my suggestion ignored.. so I don't think there is any hope for this section of the forum.

Cheers for taking the time out to explain that to me... I was starting to get paranoid there

:-D

Good luck on any future names, we all reg some bad names in the beginning! :-)

I assume your new to the biz, so your best bet would be to save your money & monitor the appraisals & sales section closely & see what kinda names sell or get appraised for decent amounts.

This should help you make better decisions when regging/snapping names. :-D

Thanks, you're right, I am new to the biz and yes I'm guilty of regging some bad names, but the domain name game is such a buzz that some times I get carried away with myself because I have had a taste of the spoils... yes, I made £1500 on a domain name I regged for $18, not bad for a beginner.

The funny thing is, I asked these forums for an appraisal and out of quite a number of forum members who appraised my name only one person gave it a chance.

What I have noticed on the appraisal section is persons opinions vary, in which I mean, the minority will explain why they think such a domain name is worth this or that and most members will just come in and say things like “reg fee IMO” which I feel is a cop out and can dishearten new members but, I know everyone is entitled to their opinion.

At the end of the day it’s the buyer opinion that counts, you know as well as I do that a name you or I think is crap a buyer will pay a small fortune for, that’s the great thing about this game you never know!! (I’m sure I said the same a while back.)

Thanks again cyphix

Don't forget, most appraisals are reseller values - ie. not end user

Of these three names, I don't think deluxesextoys.com and domainnamestock.com are worth much - domainnamestock is too long, and it probably wouldn't be difficult to find an alternative available to register.

Deluxesextoys.com might be worth $$$ or $$$$ to the right end user - but there aren't many people searching for that combination "Deluxe Sex Toys" - so the chances of an end user coming along might be pretty slim.

I like eubank.info - its a surname, so find the right person with that name and they might pay (probably low) $$$ for it.

It gets 96000 results on google relating to people or businesses with that name.

It's taken in com, net, org, biz, info, us, co.uk, and .ws

There are quite a few businesses with that name listed at switchboard.com

It could also be seen as EU Bank (ie. European Union Bank)

eu-bank is taken in com,net, org,info,biz,co.uk

I think at current reseller prices, you might get around $50-$100 for it, but I think there are lots of potential end-users, especially as .info gets more popular, so hold on to it and / or market it to them.

Hope that helps,

Sam :D

p.s. this is all just my opinion, and I don't consider myself an "expert" at domain names :)

Sam, that's what I call a proper appraisal thanks mate, I appreciate your thoughts.

You're welcome - I don't normally appraise domains but I've got a soft spot for .info :)

I think people (not just you) might get more / better appraisals if they include this sort of information with their appraisal request - most people don't have the time / inclination to research the domain, but might appraise if the info is at their fingertips?

Maybe the mods could add a sticky to the appraisal section advising people to post as much information as possible when asking for an appraisal, together with links to useful sources of information?

my $0.02 :)

IMHO - you're going to have to develop the first two to get them above $xx.

The last one could be low $xxx but it's .info, so who knows.

Sex toys have a high margin, put up an affiliate site and see what you can do.
