Hi,

Just looking for some info on asia - are these available to register right now or what?

There are some really good names available, and I'm thinking... surely not?

It's the landrush period right now.
You register your interest in what ever names you want and if no one else has registered their interest by close of the landrush (12 March 08) then the domains are yours.

If however someone registers their interest, the domains go to auction.

ah right, thanks :)

hmm. might be worth registering interest in a whole bunch of generics just in case someone overlooks them...

Unfortunately, you must be in Asia! Even Antarctica & Australia qualify according to Moniker's drop-down list of Asian Nations (but I was not aware they were really in Asia)? Are they not continents themselves?

Anyone know if it's possible to get around that rule by using the registrars contact address as has been done with .CA names in the past? If you actually sell products to people in Asia I do not see much wrong with doing that (but I did not read the regulations in any detail to check the legalities of using an agent so maybe it can not be done as people have done successfully with Canada names).

Australia is in Asia - its technically Oceania .

In answer to your other questions, the previous Sunrise registration periods are over, whereby companies could apply for domain names. I already have a premium .asia domain because the keyword was a part of the name of a company I own.

I suggest that you go and have a read through the material available at your favorite registrar. At the end of the day the remaining premium names will probably go to auction.... so yes there are still a lot of names available.

 cute!
i also didnt know that Turkey was in asia either. we are getting a geography lesson!

Turkey is in Asia; the only part of it in Europe is the greater region of Istanbul / Eastern Thrace. By the way, the .asia web site includes Oceania (Australia, New Zealand) in its map.

Turkey is in the oven....haha...not funny just had to do it!
