Just an update on news in the .au namespace. Few things going on in Australia at the moment.

1) The general market is showing very strong growth. Total .au registrations have reached 1.5m (up from 1m 2 years ago). New registrations are 46% up on this time last year.

2) auDA are holding their AGM this w/e with new directors to be elected. http://www.auda.org.au/agm/agm2009-notice There are several domainer-friendly candidates (including a prominent DNF-er) standing so will be interesting to see how it goes.

3) DBS (Fabulous) have just bought Domain8 which is a .au drop catching service just 5 months old. Details aren't too clear but the total deal could be worth $1.5m http://www.ecommercereport.com.au/?p=323

that's all from Australia for the moment...

Good stuff, netfleet...Thanks for the info

.

Things are heating up down under... thanks for the report :)

Well looks like the following were elected

Amin Kroll
Josh Rowe
Rosemary Sinclair
George Pongas

Quality board members IMO however I know lots of people were hoping for other more reformist (domainer friendly)candidates who missed out (notably Brett Fenton & Simon Johnson).
