Is it just me or is someone actually automatically registering .info versions of names already registered in .com.

It seems like an automated process as no logical pattern is seen (by me anyways) other than the fact that the .com is reg'd.

What is the logic/thinking behind this?

I think it was just happened that .info had so many $.99 or $1.99 registration promotions in the past that people just grab anything that .com is taken. Most of those domains will very likely be dropped in the next couple months.

I can see that this would have a factor. But it just seems so widespread that even at 1.99 one entity would need a decent budget.
