i went looking for help and found my way here. :)

i recently registered this domain. i thought it was cute and have an idea for it. a few days later someone emailed me asking to buy or lease the domain. i have no idea what to do or how much to charge.

for most of the past 5 years the domain was listed on a domain-for-sale website. originally was a shopping site.

thanks,
joe

are you asking for an appraisal?

i'd say xx-xxx .... in other words make them give you a number, and respond accordingly. a domain is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it... do some research maybe they own bbar.com or bebar.com or beebar.net, maybe they are developed and are looking for protection

but the domain itself is not that strong ... so i wouldn't be thinking thousands

good luck

thanks, jedi. i'm looking for an appraisal and how-to info for selling or leasing someone a domain. i wasn't really clear. i'll do that research. thanks for the tips.

btw, i saw "the incredibles" yesterday. a preview for star wars 3 was shown. i think i'm gonna like it. :)

i did some checking and you hit the nail on the head. the guy owns beebar.net -- bee soap. i originally told him i had an idea for the domain. [my idea was a bee-product site.] all the other extentions are still available so, it's value is in relation to his own business. i'll simply ask him to make an offer like you said.

the potential buyer replied with this: "I have a value in mind but, would prefer for you to tell me what you would consider appropriate."

i need some guidance here. i'm thinking $500 as a starting point. his beebar.net is a new ecomm site -- only a few months old -- but beebar appears to be the brand name. heck, maybe i should start at $1,000. d:-)

$1000 is pushing it a bit, but hey you have nothing to lose by trying, it's your call. You can ask for $1000 and then say "but we can negotiate".
