Rick,

I have done well on all 5 categories with DomainSponsor. Others claim that Fabulous does as well or better on Casino/Poker/Gambling, but I have gotten equivalent or better results with DS. The categories that you picked are all very high earners.

Optimizing - DS is automatic, which means that you have to do nothing, but it can take from a couple of days up to 3 or 4 weeks for the optimization to work. I find it easy, but one must be patient. Otherwise, you can pick your own keywords at DomainHop & Sedo. Fabulous will optimize for you (and give you a 75% revenue share, as compared to their do-it-yourself rev share of 50%). So, that is pretty easy. Obviously, Fab, DH & Sedo work best when the keyword or category is pretty obvious. For names with multiple or non-obvious keywords, you cannot beat DS.

Retaining Traffic - Well, Fabulous & Domain Hop make up nicer looking pages than anyone else. Although, with Fab it is not automatic. I get a small increase in traffic with DomainSponsor, and their Premier pages (generally you need a portfolio with 1000 uniques/day to qualify) look pretty good to me. None of these will build traffic as you can do with hand-crafted, relevant, periodically updated web pages.

Makes the Most Money - If you have the time and skill to craft web pages, then you probably will earn most with Google Adsense (which is not actually a PPC service). If not, then DomainSponsor yields the best for most of my domains. Fabulous is probably next best.

My experience has been a little different. I have found TrafficZ to be somewhat better than Domain Sponsor - despite the fact that they have a 2-click model. I don't have too many domains in those categories - but I like the fact that TrafficZ can be customized in real time, and that their stats are also in real time. It seems like I am in the minority here, though.

Sedo is also worth considering. They do well in the categories you mention, especially if some of the traffic is non-U.S. Domain Sponsor seems very strict at looking only at U.S. traffic.

Different names can do better with different services. However, the only names that I had that did well at TrafficZ were those that did not convert well anywhere else. As for real-time stats, DS & Fab update their stats every hour. Checking your stats more than once an hour could be construed as compusive behavior :>)

I found that Sedo did very well with UK traffic. DS only discriminates on US/foreign traffic for the pop-up revenue. With the improved program, the pop revenue becomes so insignificant, that I am hardly allowing any pops anymore. DS (and most of the other PPC services) pay on the basis of click-thrus. So, the US vs foreign does not make much difference.

However, I have done regression analysis and determined that my US traffic generates, on average, approx FOUR times the revenue per impression of foreign traffic on DS (similarly at Fabulous; Sedo does not provide stats for US vs. other traffic). This is one reason why people from Hong Kong, Korea, India, Germany, etc have been so busy acquiring US-related domains.

Of course, not all foreign traffic is equal. UK, Australia, Canada speak mostly English. Traffic from these countries converts quite well. Hong Kong, Japan, China, etc use completely different character sets. Very little of this Asian traffic converts. If anyone comes up with an Asian PPC service, especially one that has an English interface, please post it on this thread. I have a lot of Asian traffic I would like to place.

HiOsilver (or Anyone else),

You said DS is great for gambling related domains.

Do you know how are DomainHop's ppc rates for casino/poker/gambling sites?

Please advise,

Thanks,

Thanks,

Rick,

Here are my highest earning casino/gambling domains, month to date (includes a US holiday weekend, which always depresses visitor numbers and revenue) at DomainSponsor:

CasinoDomain#1 - 34 visitors, 30 US vis, 12 clicks, $21.66 (rpm = $637)
CasinoDomain#2 - 85, 69, 54, $18.70 (rpm = $220)
CasinoDomain#3 - 42, 38, 17, $16.67 (rpm = $397)
CasinoDomain#4 - 47, 38, 27, $9.25 (rpm = $197)
GamblingDomain#1 - 2, 0 , 1, $6.77 (rpm = $3385)
CasinoDomain#5 - 6, 3, 3, $6.59 (rpm = $1098)

I have others, but this gives you an idea of how well they can do with relatively few (unique) visitors and relatively few clicks. Keep in mind that these are all with the improved DS which is not available to everyone yet. A regular DS Premier account would earn about half the revenue.
A DS basic account would earn more like 1/3 the revenue.

Also, keep in mind that not all casino/gambling domains will do this well. These are my top earners. Also, very high rpm's based on a small number of impressions is not very statistacally significant. A lot will depend on how good your domains (and the traffic they generate) are.

Frankly, based on the names that I gave to DomainHop, I do not believe that they could match the above returns. Perhaps DomainHop could in the future, but they are a relatively new service. My best DH results have been with high volume, low value traffic (the opposite of most of my casino/gambling domains).

You might try dividing your domains into 3 groups and trying 3 PPC services out and comparing for yourself. Two things to keep in mind:
1. DomainSponsor requires 3 to 4 weeks to fully optimize
2. You need at least a month of data (after optimization) to be able to draw meaningful conclusions about any PPC service.

Finally, if you have a blockbuster domain, say TexasHoldem.com or USCasino.com, you should develop it and forget PPC, unless you are just too busy.
