I own an active European publishing website/domain that has been online for several years.

Current metrics are roughly:

• Ahrefs DR, DA Moz: 45+
• several hundred referring domains
• strong backlinks from established media websites
• active organic traffic
• thousands of ranking keywords
• several years of publishing history
• the website is still active and regularly updated

I'm considering selling the domain or possibly the entire website as a digital asset.

I'm currently looking at Sedo and Afternic, but I'm not sure whether an established site with SEO history would be better sold through a marketplace, a broker, or direct outreach.

For people who have sold similar domains:

1. Would you sell it as a domain or as an established website/SEO asset?
2. Which marketplace or method worked best for you?
3. Which metrics matter most to serious buyers?

I'm mainly interested in experiences from people who have actually sold established domains or websites.

I'd prefer not to share the domain publicly, but I can provide additional metrics if needed.

If the niche is important for a business who wants to take off the leader of that niche and has ways to come up with funds > probably your best buyer. what is the niche? .. also, is that a .ro or .com domain (does the website serve local or international market?)?

The niche is mainly culture, arts, science, education and related topics. It currently operates as a publishing/media website, but the name is broad enough that it could also work for a cultural institution, educational platform, cultural project or a more general news/media site.

The domain is a .eu, not .ro or .com. The current audience is primarily Romanian, although the extension itself gives it a broader European positioning.

That is also why I think the potential buyer may not necessarily be another domain investor, but rather an organization, publisher, cultural platform or company that could make use of the existing authority and history.
