somebody is definately running a bidding bot against me on many of the auctions. i get outbid often in one second or less. there's no way a person could do that.

anyone else getting impossibly fast outbids? and very robotic bidding in general?

I have also seen that!
But what can you do? Nothing! Simply bid again!

Yes, and based on past auction results I'll say BD is one of those running a bot.

What is wrong with a bot?

Anyone could script one up I would assume.

Well it is not a bot but what they call proxy bidding I think. People set a high limit to what they want to bid and if someone else places a bid lower, the proxy bid kicks in and increases the price until the limit set by the user is reached.

Andriod, how can you tell the difference?

I always thought pool counted a proxy bid that beats you as a "bid" on the bid count. I'm pretty sure in the past I have entered a bid- got instantly outbid via a proxy, and the bid count was upped by 2, meaning me and the proxy. Am I crazy? :goofy:

Guys pool offers software interfaces/api for people now. I don't have the link in front of me but I am sure buydomains and other have their programmers on the job.

because a proxy bid outbids you instantly. you NEVER have the high bid if you are outbid by a proxy. in my case, i grab the high bid for a moment. then anywhere from a microsecond to a few seconds later, the domain begins to bid back up (many individual bids placed in rapid succession as i refresh and watch the page).

trust me. i know the difference. these are NOT proxies.

What my broker said, just before selling me Enron stock! :cheeky: (just kidding!)

Hey 'Droid, if you say so. But if you're correct, isn't the end result the same as a proxy bid? Meaning- we get our ass whooped?

I'm sure there is more going on at pool than we'll ever know. Either way, those guys are geniuses. Wait, let me rephrase that, "RICH GENIUSES!"
