According to both an official tweet and message on the website, Bido is ceasing operations tomorrow. While I know that their has been plenty of criticism of their platform, I have made thousands of dollars using their services. Not only that, I have had the opportunity to interact with their support staff, who are extremely friendly and willing to help.

A true shame in my opinion. Best of luck to all of the staffers.

It's a shame. It was expected though. Looking at the amount of domains that were not getting any bids at all.

That's really too bad. Got some good deals on that site and was really hoping to see it get a lot bigger. Wish you the best of luck, Jarred and the rest of the Bido crew. :/

just goes to show you, sedo and the other few big players who started early in the game dominate the market...

Really sorry to hear that. IMHO the platform was awesome, but the domains they sold were too poor. That's not entirely Bido's fault though, not at all.

Best of luck in any future projects!

I'd bet if Bido.com actually auctioned itself off on Bido, it would probably fetch a pretty decent price...

The platform definitely had the potential to perform better.

But I am certain it was a money-losing venture, many domains were so poor that they would not sell for more than the minimum bid.
Do the math.

Good luck to the owners.

what ever they spend, BIDO.com the domain alone will sell for 5 to 6 figures in 5-10 years!

Oh my God! This really sucks, Bido was the only domain auctions place which I liked for domains quick selling! Also it's support is best of all supports I ever talked to.. This is really sad..

I agree completely. I just spoke with Jared and for some reason it seems they invested what I would consider WAY TOO MUCH into the sites development. As a marketing/web guy, it doesn't add up. I have seen sites 100 x more complex developed for a fraction of what I was told.

I was truly getting into the site though...but I think they need to offer something more than auctions, perhaps get in the registrar game, or hosting service...that would boost their bottom line

Anywho, I wish Jared and the team the best...

Yes, what a shame.

I also agree: this was the only auction site I was buying from (some great find at time).

I also some good sales there...

Yes, a shame.

Now...what's happening to the "money on hold" ?:(

hosting, domain parking, domain appraisals,

also keep in mind, they put to much focus in design and not simplicity!

The auction system is to confusing for the average domainer, all they want to do is purchase credit and post domains into auction... a simple auction platform like the one they use in the afternic bazaar would have cost less to develop and result in more auctions!

but only the once which are pending from the buyers end are stuck...

and even sold one ;)

Great service and people behind Bido, but not the domains forsale.

Maybe they will re-launch again for take three.
