Big change for domains listed at Sedo

Starting Oct 21st, Sedo will charge $50.00 minimum commission for domain sales on domains parked at Sedo, unless you have listed them for a fixed sales price.

That means that when you have your domains parked at Sedo with "make offer" and someone offers you $60 for it, Sedo will now take $50 commission and give you $10

I am in the process of moving a lot of my domains away from Sedo. They always put their own interests ahead of their customers best interests. It was already a pain parking with Sedo because of poor optimization. I have always really felt that Sedo unfairly takes away the rights of domain owners. We should get to communicate any way we wish with visitors to our parked pages and keep 100% of direct sales.

The $50 minimum charge is not new. What is new, is that Sedo now additionally requires domains to be listed for sale at a fixed price if you want to get around the minimum fee.

Anyone selling domains for $60 on Sedo needs to find a new hobby, as domaining is a serious business.

The $50 minimum commission that you are referring to existed only for domains not parked at Sedo.

Actually, that's incorrect. Several TLDs have had a minimum $50 commission regardless of selling price. When I sell domains on Sedo, the 10% cut is the determining factor whether I agree to an offer or not - this means that I would never consider offers on Sedo below several hundred dollars or even thousands, depending on the domain. I don't see the fuss here, a $50 minimum commission is a fair price for any domain that utilizes Sedo's selling medium & audience reach.

I agree with Acro on this one. You can sell low-priced domains on forums or other platforms, you don't need Sedo for that.

Regarding the change, I actually think it is a good way to create more liquidity by offering an incentive for domain sellers to accurately price their domains. Setting buy-it-now prices should result in more sales than not having any price tag on your domains as long as they are fairly priced.
