Who used the first recorded command of "Hands up!" in a Western holdup? The man who is supposed to have invented the usage is little known and most bibliographies fail to list him. His name was Bill Miner, "Old Bill," and he held up stagecoaches and trains from Civil War days to as late as 1911, when Pinkerton operative W. H. Minster captured him in a Georgia forest.
