personally i think new.net domains are worthless ... they started out like they were going to alter the industry, but they have flamed out and are now nothing more than a gimmick.

I would agree with that. The new.net stuff just isn't a practical investment.

Could this be worth something someday? Maybe if the next IE comes with the new.net plugin?

Isn't it maybe worth hanging onto it?

Translation: rip someone off... Not a good idea.

We've all made mistakes with acquisitions. That doesn't give you a license to screw the next guy who comes along. Expense the domain as a learning experience and move on...

Jon. New.net is known to BS with the best of them..but the truth of the matter is these domains will never be worth anything.

You can play them for some traffic on their "quick" se.. it is possible to gain some residual income along those lines ..but thats realy about it .. here's a good read..

ICANN starts today public review of new tld extensions. New.net had
several months to apply but refused ($45000 application per extension).

We could have put US$45000 together and made .game for ourselves a full TLD!

One of the extensions is .xxx which means .xxx names will be resold from
under new.net. Doesn't look good, pity since .com is overused and its hard
to find actual shops under .com, .shop is cool IMO.

I dont think its worth anything but who knows... its your choice at the end of the day. You may kick yourself in the long run.

You would think that if new.net had a whole pile of their hybrid extensions registered and getting traffic, that the $45k application fee would be a natural progression of their business plan. Like Bionic said, it just doesn't look good...

from my understanding, that's just for the application fee (non refundable). No guarantees whatsoever it will get approved...

The application period is over, have to wait and see when they
accept more, I'm sure new.net will get their act together but
they might lose .xxx.

The application has to include a business plan demonstrating you
can maintain a registry, but some people here own registries!

Yep for the price of a few one word coms we could have pooled
in for .shop or .game. We'll wait and see how many of those 10
applications get approved.
