It's a cool novelty name. If you have a customer lined up, and he/she has real interest, I would push for up to $500. Any higher than that might be too much for this name, IMO.

its worth nothing...this isn't even a great .in name and even the great .in names dont rank very high in my opinion.

.cn represents a larger market, but there havent been any large .cn sales since it opened about a year ago

Yup. As long as the buyer doesn't require data to backup your asking price. You have the power to set the standard with this sale. If you do the exchange on e.g. AfterNIC, the deal will end up in their public & high profile "Recent Sales" pages; other domainers will then be able to use the sale as a benchmark for future .IN sales. So do us all a favor and do the exchange in a public format!

any name can be branded. some of the highest traffic sites in the world would get reg free remarks for the domain alone before the site went big.
apart from the few nice keywords out there, the only thing that makes a domain good is the amount of money you spend on it / the traffic levels / and potential return for investors.


bite.in is not good. at an immediate sale value it sucks. i wouldnt accept it for free if you pushed it to my account now.

the days of trying to get generic or 'cool' sounding domains to sell for large amounts of money on their description alone , are over. your 8 years too late.

the only thing of value these days is traffic and/or a good generic keyword in an established extension - which is 97.5% + dominated by .com.

i would not even pay $500 for porn.in so what chance does bite.in have

im not trolling. $500 is expensive for porn.in . if u check old ebay sales you will see xxx.extension , porn.extension similar to .in for $300

a few years ago, keyword domain could help boost google rankings before people knew what anchor text was. it was just luck the link text included the keyword. now people know, the keyword is irrelevant.

why do you think porn.in is worth more than $500 ? is it the natural type in traffic? i would guess only traffic it gets is from domainers/speculators.

india is a british colony. porn is not a term used in the uk. it is american. indians who speak english would therefore not type in porn.in out of curiosity.
a small number might type in porn.co.in .

the only way porn.in could have value is if porn.co.in was a huge site. and there was traffic bleed, mispells to porn.in

amcy, i dont sell domains. occasionally i might, but not as a reseller. last summer i sold around 1,200 .com's .co.uk's as a set to someone.

Heck: I wouldn't pay that much for it right now either. But I wouldn't call someone mad if they paid $500 for it now. Even if it was setup to forward to another domain, it has superior traffic value.

That was a long time ago. Britain stopped being a colonial power some years back, remember? :cheeky: America is the dominant culture of the world now, and American slang terms are well known around the world, even in India.

Heh. Yup. Austria was never a colony of America or Britain but if you go to SEDO and check the stats for porn.at you'll see that it has excellent traffic AND bids! And no excuses about it being developed 'cause it ain't!

Agree with you that .in does not have the appeal for resale.

I am an Indian and we own over 3000 domains - almost 95% are .COMs

I have acquired 500 in the last 3 weeks alone and all are .COMs

I found few very good 'single' keywords .IN names available along with some hugely popular 'two word' phrases (over 500k in overture), but I still have not registered them. Reason: It will cost me 16 x 8 = 128 dollars per year which I think is too expensive given the fact that the extension is NEW and even in India .COM has established its roots so deep that .in can not compete with it. India goverment should have introduced .in few years ago like .de to stop the .COM stampede. 95% of .in domains are registered by speculators so there won't be any crowds of buyers looking for .in domains.

Now if I get these domains and it takes 2 years to sell them (I will not develop non-COMs ever unless some very unique situation warranted), my cost per domain will be $32 and it will be hard to recover my expenses.

On the other hand I buy .COMs much cheaper and I know I have the best extension in the world and when people with other extensions develop their similar names I will get a part of their traffic automatically.

Just my two cents.
