Registrations for .info and .biz continue to climb steadily. Interestingly, .biz is fast catching up on .info, although .biz names cannot, theoretically, be bought just for resale.

914,340 - .INFO
732,752 - .BIZ

.com and .net drops continue at an alarming rate. No wonder Verisign is worried.

verisign, register.com and many other registrars fueled their plans and expansions based on the growth they were seeing back when people believed registering anything was a guaranteed get rich quick scheme.

Just like the domainers who are coming up to renewal time and realising it isn't quite that easy - so too are the registrars that fed off those hopeful registrations.

There are still millions of registrations in .com, .net and .org that will go unrenewed as people realign their expectations with reality. The better names will be renewed or rereged and the more dubious registrations will be filtered away. There is still a long way for the .com numbers to fall before the real level is reached imo.

I read somewhere today that Ult Search alone as 33,000 domains. Shikes. About time they seriously consider selling.

unless of course they are making more than enough money to cover the reges, in which case - why sell?

I noticed media.com has come down from a high of 500k-750k on GD/AN to 200k-250k today. No buyers?

That is one reason why Ults should sell. Instead of appreciating, .com names, on the whole, appear to be depreciating. Even for the best ones.
