Maybe I'm missing something - but what is a blogodex? I've searched the yahoo dictionary and performed a general search on yahoo. I still don't know what it means. I'd say try again and get a domain that actually makes sense.

I own .com, .net. and .us domains. Currently, I am a big advocate of .us domains. There are many one and two word .us names that are still available that actually make sense. If you cannot find an available .com or .net that makes sense, then quickly go to .us before the rest of the good .us domains get gone.

I think it makes sense. Many people are familiar with "Blogs" by now, and I thought it was readily apparent that this was a play on the term "Rolodex", which many people are also familiar with. Blogodex = "Blog Rolodex" -- a directory of blogs if you will. I appreciate the input though.

I guess many people will prefer "Blogdex" to "Blogodex". I think Blogodex has a better flow to it.

It plays on the word rolodex.

I like it. Not much in resell value but the name is pretty good for being pulled-out-of-a-hat

In all seriousness, good luck Greggish. I never would've thought to register blogodex.com or blogdex.com. Thumbs up to you for creativity. You might get lucky and sell it for thousands. Who can predict the future?

It does amaze me though how a "made up" word like "blogodex" can get such good reviews from appraisers here. Granted - It is a .com, but it's not even a real word. This is clearly a made up word. The art of making up/coining words is called lexicography - i think.

I wonder - are the good reviews for blogodex.com are due to your sheer creativity and/or the fact that it's a .com?

My philosophy is that I'd rather register domains that are real words and preferably product names. This is just my preference and opinion that I'm expressing here.


It's baffling to me how a made up .com word can such as Blogodex.com can get such good reviews and a real product name in the .us version can get such bad reviews. I know that .us is untested so far - but it has a lot of potential.

I have placed many domains up for appraisal here that are actually real words like tissues.us, tissuepaper.us, combination.us, humidifier.us gelatin.us, buffers.us, condenser.us, supplies.us, conduits.us, accelerators.us, etc.

I have gotten slammed on my appraisals. It may be because these are .us domains and not .com. But in my opinion - it's better to register a domain that is actually a real word in the .us extension than to make up a word just to get a .com. That's just my philosophy.

Or maybe its because you always have to have the last word?
Save your arguments for the court room. If you don't like the appraisals your getting. Ignore them, or try registering better domains.

Take the appraisals your getting with a grain of salt.
Obviously we are wrong and you are right!

Blogs are fun but noone would pay $$$ to buy these domains, unfortunately. I barely managed to sell SecretBlog & SecretBlogs.com before they expired
