I bought this domain sometime back. Right now I am not doing anything with this domain nor I have any time to develop it. The domain name is easy to remember and can be extremely profitable.

Website: http://www.blondevideos.com/
Google Backlinks: 40,000
Google PageRank: 6
MSN Backlinks: 9
Price: $2k+ (best offer gets it)

The offer includes Domain + Content + Hosting for 1 year.

The domain is not a PR6. It has been redirected to adultfriendfinder and sucked up its PR during the last update.

The backlinks are also pointing to adultfriendfinder and NOT to your domain. I hope this is an innocent mistake and not an atempt to scam other forum members.

I didnt know thats even possible, so its an honest mistake :emba: . But think about it, if this was possible then I could redirect to google or some other high PR site and get a 9 or 10 PR.

I bought the domain for $500 and thought it was a good deal (even if the PR is not correct, I believe the domain name is worth it).

Oh, of course you could get a PR 10. Many people do this trick, get fake PR7, and then sell textlinks to naive and newbie webmasters who have no idea that they are buying nothing but air.

I agree it is a nice name, but you should make clear that you are selling it because of the good name and not because of the PR.

i was dealing with someone that was making dmoz clones, and they made dmoz.gr and the PR algo confused it with dmoz.org and gave it dmoz.org's PR and backlinks exact. anything is possible.

Two questions:
  • How did you verify the PR (or lack of)?
  • Shouldn't this be in the Adult forum?

The "PR algo" does not "confuse" things. This is done with a redirect. Go to google and in the searchbar type www.blondevideos.com

Couldn't be more obvious. Thread should be locked and member warned IMO.

Wow, I'd kinda heard about the PR stealing technique, but I didn't realize how easy it is to be deceived. I'll make sure that I look closely when purchasing a site/domain for the PR.

Thanks, fryman.

Here's a site that uses the 302 redirect technique to "show" a PR of 10: http://www.pr10.darkseoteam.com They also apparently explain (in French) how it's done. There are some threads on Seochat about this. It seems to be a very common issue these days.

And fryman is correct. To validate PR, Google seems to be the best tool: search for the URL like he said and check the cache. Thanks for that heads-up!

I subsequently did a bit of searching and what is now more worrying to me is the purposeful highjacking and sabotaging of your site (and its PR) via the same technique (e.g. see http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum30/28329.htm). :(

I guess with PR "seeing isn't always believing" and I personally think PR is overrated anyway ...

I own over 4000 adult domains and I think you got a good deal when you bought BlondeVideos.com for $500, even if it has a 0 Google PR.

$500 is a good deal for this name. I would suggest you to develop it. good luck!

Yeah, thats what I thought. The seller didnt say anything about the PR. The $500 was for domain only. I thought the PR 6 was an extra didnt point out that to him should he raise the price :smartass: . Now when I check the backlinks its apparent the earlier owner was redirecting to aduldfriendfinder through his affilaite id, hence the PR.

This does explain how a guy was selling PR 10 text links sometime back on linkadage :goofy: .

i didnt say that the algo was confusing it here. i said it was confusing dmoz.gr with dmoz.org (because the g and r are also in .org). they have since fixed this problem.
