Not developped yet but we are deciding what to put in it.
Any idea what the value of this domain is before we develop it?

Thanks in advance...

I guess I'm a bit surprised by that since Boston has a pretty high real estate market..

For XX you almost can't place an ad for a home around Boston...

Hi Olney

does the domain get any traffic.

it's long. but that has nothing to do with the value or potential...imo

i assume you live in or near Boston, so i would go to all the realty agents and get them to sign-up for a listing on your site.

maybe start with a small fee, comparable to local newspaper ads, but cheaper to build content.

then you're on your way!

$25 > $150 reseller as is

good luck

I believe "BostonRealEstate" has excellent value in most extensions and is a very pure, keyword combination ... short, clear, highly descriptive. With "Directory" added on, you begin to get into the realm of various derivatives on the pure keyword combination. It's not bad, and is still logical, intuitive. But your are then competing a little with other derivatives like BostonRealEstateGuide, BostonRealEstateAgencies, BostonRealEstateProperties, and so on.

That being said, my appraisal would be in the neighborhood of $1500. The .com is a great plus and the sheer volume of real estate pros in Boston may well lead to interest in the name. I believe the name could possibly go for a little higher. Names similar to this are listed weekly at DNJournal.com in the low $X,XXX. I think BoiseRealEstate.com went for $50,000 last year. Just imagine what BostonRealEstate.com could bring.

Developing sounds good. Give it some time. Build some traffic. Good luck.

Thanks Carlton I believed the name was registered before we bought it & after we saw it expired we snatched it up.

We know about SEO & the keyword value for search engines so we couldn't possibly imagine a boston real estate related site being worth registration fee. We just didn't know how much upwards it could go.

It should take us about 6 months or 2 google updates to get it to a PR5
Then we'll try to sell it.

Also thanks you too biggedon it did seem thought out we haven't put even a reeal spash page yet.

BostonRealEstate.net is getting a whopping $500 a pop for home listings... We'll see if we can make some cash with it first...

Hi Olney. Are you certain that BostonRealEstate.net gets $500 a pop for home listings? It has been an ERA Realty stie for a long time now and I thought they use it as there home page, not as a real estate directory.

I was in a Pool (or was it namewinner?) bidding war for BostonHomes.net a few months ago with the owner of Boston Homes Realty on Newbury Street. When he went past $5000. I dropped out but now I wish I had hung in there. On the phone later he said he would have kept going to $15,000 but I don't know if that was just talk. How much do you think BostonHomes.net would have been worth?

At least I can console myself that I own BostonRealEstate.biz, BostonRentals.net, and BostonHomes.biz (and many more).
