Totally defensive regs. Brands missing these pre-regs are going to be subjected to hoards of people trying to get their hands on major brands and then attempt to sell to them.
The WIPO flood gates will open. Those stupid enough to reg a brand and THEN contact the legitimate brand owner will find themselves getting names seized or subject to the URDP and WIPO process.
Then again, some may be operated as successful brand bashing websites. This site and domain owner (RyanAirSucks.com) successfully defended their rights and the courts found in favor of the owner and disallowed Ryan Air's claims.
